Live Earth 7.7.07

Today is 7th July 2007. Today may be special to someone because it only happens once in a hundred year with the special figure 070707 on the calendar. But, to me, the fun thing is the Live Earth Concert organized by SOS. The main objective of this meaningful event is to raise awareness for global warming and climate crisis. The concert will be held at 9 cities namely Washington DC, New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio De Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Hamburg or you can view the concert venues through Google Earth. Although KL is not in the list, we are still able to watch the live concerts from all places via live broadcast. I have been watching the performance from Australia and just finish watching Linkin Park's more-than-one-hour performance at Tokyo. The Japanese are damn lucky.

I believe there are many communities or organizations like Earth911 provide cool tips on how to save the earth. I have one idea too for those working at the office, which is wearing casual clothes instead of formal clothes to work. As we all know, formal clothes require ironing so that they look neat and without wrinkles. However, during the ironing process, heat are generated and emitted to the surrounding and heat-generating electrical appliances consume more power and energy. I believe it is hard for a company to change the culture and working attire which has been practicing for decades. Nonetheless, do you think a person who sits in the office and faces the computer for whole working hours needs to wear formal clothes? I think it is not necessary. Smart casual, neat and proper will do. Small changes could make a big difference.

Save the polar bear from drowning. Save the mother earth.
