India: Sculpture Museum

Since ancient stone carvings plays an important role in the history of Mahabalipuram, we wouldn't miss out the opportunity to visit this Sculpture Museum which preserves all the artistic and historical masterpieces. Although this museum isn't that huge, but it has a great collection of sculptures of gods and goddesses (even Buddha) and Hindu significant characters.

An additional fees of Rs. 10 was charged upon us in order to take photo inside the museum. But I think it's quite fair.

The largest statue standing right after we entered the museum was Mammallan who was one of the kings in southern India's Pallava Dynasty. Mahabalipuram was also known as Mamallapuram which was named after him. I believe he had contributed a lot to the locals in the ancient time.

Inside the museum, the paintings and stone sculptures weren't displayed inside a showcase like what we normally see in a museum. So, we could have a closer look at those artworks. Another artisan's masterpiece.

This was the miniature of Shore Temple. I'll blog about this temple sometime.

Strange enough, Mona Lisa was there too.

What is the message do you think this wooden sculpture wanted to deliver to us? Don't become a drug addict else your eyes are gonna turn into boobs?

That's all for sculpture museum. It is definitely worth a visit for Hinduism art and sculpture enthusiasts.

P/s: I will write about my India and Taiwan travelogue (if I have time).
