RFID at Speedy Music Store

While I was browsing through the CDs in Speedy, I saw this, RFID tag. In Malaysia, most of the retail stores use barcode as the identification method for the items. To my awe, Speedy is using RFID tags. But it only applies for new records displayed on the racks near to the entrance.

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification which has a function that is similar to barcode. The advantage of RFID over barcode is it is able to work from a distance within a sensitivity range and beyond the line of sight of reader. In fact, it is widely used in MyKad and Touch 'n Go. We may not realise this because it is embedded inside the card.

It's a good sign that store in Malaysia starts to adopt this technology.

RFID aint quite a common tracker to be found in Malaysia, perhaps the bureau should adopt this method by implanting it into ourselves in order we are able to scan through a reader when we leave and return rather than treating us like andriods having to TITO everytime we open that door :)P

P.S: argh... the bitter-sweet symphony noise... *tEeT* *tEeT* *tEeT*...
