Hor Weng Kei Wantan Mee + The Loaf Cranberry Cheese + Snowflake Bestseller

The gym I used to go is relocating. It dawn on me that I will no longer hang out at Pavilion KL anymore. Hence, I went to savour all the good food around that area for the last time.

My favorite wantan mee. First shop was opened in SS2, Petaling Jaya since 1935. The sifu retired and the shop closed down. Another shop is opened at Lot 10 Hutong, Bukit Bintang. They named the shop Hor Weng Kei (The Second Generation) and the food is prepared by some young chap, believed to be the apprentice. The mushroom wantan mee I used to have in PJ shop is no longer available, but the char siew wantan mee here is still good.


Cranberry Cheese. Fell in love with the melting cheese after trying it for the first time at The Loaf!


Snowflake Bestseller (Cold). Brown sugar shaved ice + grass jelly + sweet potato & taro balls is a heavenly combination.

Terengganu: Nasi Dagang

Some time ago, I made a short trip to the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Terengganu. The first itinerary of the trip was to try out the local delicacy, Nasi Dagang. The shop signboard says Sejak 1950 an (Since 1950).


Basically, all the Nasi Dagang served to the customers were prepared by this makcik. She was actually sitting on the table with her legs crossing. The wrinkles on her face made me think that she has been selling Nasi Dagang for over 30 years.


A bowlful of rice and a few pinches of curry fish served on a banana leaf. That's Nasi Dagang.


P/s: I am almost there to get rid of a piece of shit that I unintentionally stepped on. Another conference call tomorrow and I can see the sun shine again. Fingers crossed.

Kissaten Coffee and Restaurant

I dined at Kissaten Coffee Restaurant located at Jaya One last Saturday. I don't know how to categorize this restaurant as it is Japanese styled but not 100%. It serves coffee and western food like pizza and pasta. Apparently, you can find Kai See Hor Fun (Chicken Floss Flat Noodle Soup) in the menu too. How magical?


I have seen forwarded email and youtube video about coffee art. Now, I learn about this coffee brand called illy. This is a statistic I read from the brochure. Everyday, over 6 million cups of illy coffee are drunk all over the world. So, what makes the coffee famous? Go order one cup of cappuccino and find out yourself. :P


Back to our dinners. My friend took this Katsu Curry Rice. The gravy was quite dry and it tasted sweet more than spicy.


I took Tangy Duck Spaghetti. It only contained 2 ingredients that is, duck and olive. But, it's good. Thumbs up!


We pondered for a moment before deciding what to order for dessert. The Ginger Pudding and Pumpkin Cream and Vanilla Ice Cream which were ranked as Genki No. 1 were equally tempted. In the end, we ordered this Rich Choco Pudding. No regrets. That was heavenly good!!

Pasta Zanmai

After Sushi Zanmai, this is another post about Japanese food restaurant under Super Sushi Group - Pasta Zanmai at Old Wing One Utama. The entrance to Pasta Zanmai which can't be easily spotted since the shop is combined with another Japanese tids bits store Shojikiya.

Spices


Most of us order set meal which comes with salad and green tea. The salad is very very delicious with sesame sauce. Most of the pasta are topped with either sesame sauce or cream sauce. I think the sesame-sauced pasta tasted better with its aromatic smell. Cream sauce made me feel full very fast. Some pics rolling hot in!

My Elephant

I'm grateful that I have a bunch of colleagues who are also food lovers. We got to know about this Thai restaurant, The Elephant via newspaper. The food bloggers at A Whiff of Lemongrass and You Get What You Give wrote pretty good reviews too.

Since we went there during lunch time, we ordered set lunch which consisted of a main course, drinks and fruits. We can choose Pandan or Krachiap juice to our choice of preferences. That's my Krachiap juice which tasted a lot like Ribena.


Fish Cake with aromatic lemongrass (Daun Serai). My first bite told me it tasted like Otak-Otak. A good start for our meals. Nice!!


A Thai meals would not be complete without Tomyam soup right? This is a bowl of Tomyam soup just right for 2 persons with 2 big kung (prawns). It's not spicy at all. Just imagine a person like me who order "Lemon and Herb" at Nando's Chicken also can handle it.


Fried rice with Lychee and Prawn. The presentation itself is mouth-watering.


My Thai Laksa. It's like dried curry with santan.


Green curry rice. The rice is not white rice but brown rice which is said to be more healthier and nutritious.


The lunch this afternoon was sumptuous and delicious indeed. The price was reasonable whereby 4 lunch sets, 1 fish cake and 2 Tomyam soups costed us RM 60.60 only. Highly recommended. The restaurant is located near to Happy Mansion at Seksyen 17. The location is a little bit hard to find, you just need to round a few more times and observe the yellow word My Elephant.

Sushi Zanmai

Over the weekend, I planned to take a look at Game Axis LIVE! held at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre. But Mid Valley was too jam packed and I changed my mind in the end. After being temped by dugong's blog for so many times, eventually I dined in Sushi Zanmai.


Bottomless hot green tea. It's always my choice when I take Japanese food.


Salmon Mentai (Salmon roasted with cod roe). I have limited vocab in describing food. I believe the picture is self-explanatory. Go try it yourself.


Kakiage Don (Fried prawn and vegetable on rice). Looks simple but this is really delicious. Imagine having a bite of crispy fried prawn and crunchy vege.


Salmon Don (Raw salmon on sushi rice). ZOMG, I like the chewy salmon, and also this pic!
